What am I?
I exist in the mind of humans.
But am I real, or not?
I measure the day from dusk to dawn,
But some might say that I’m quite a yawn?
Physicists love me, because I have them all fooled,
I’m not real, but just a tool.
I sleep at night, and wake you in the morning,
If it were up to me, you’d deserve a warning.
A slave to me you are, day and night,
But if you learned the truth, oh what a fright.
So what am I, have you guessed?
Am I useful, or just a pest?
Do I really stand still, or fly when you’re having fun?
Am I the clock making you run?
Am I truth, or the mind’s fiction?
Am I real, or just superstition?
I am Time, ladies and gentleman, and it’s time we learned the truth.
Time weaves it’s way into every aspect of our life, dictating our thoughts, beliefs and emotions. Who we see ourselves to BE is because of time.
We are born at a specific time, we get older in time and we will die at the end of our time. But what happens in between all of that verges on criminal. We believe, and so we experience that at certain points in time the body begins to change – in painful ways even. Things begin to sag, begin to hurt, go grey, and deteriorate. All these experiences occur in time, or rather, we believe they occur because of time.
And while these physical changes are all happening, we have time limits to achieve certain outcomes. A time limit to get a job, to get married, to have kids, to be a great parent. A time limit to make your fortune, your nest egg. All the while we’re thinking that time is our friend, a useful reminder of what – of how little time we have left?
Consider that time is made up. Who made it up? We did. The day we began to measure it, we forgot something very important – that to define something is to define yourself.
We forgot how important it is to play and allow life to flourish and evolve, to blossom from one moment to the next. If you’re wondering what I am talking about, consider how you would be living as a child? They are not bound by time, it’s not even part of their reality. And so they are far more free than their adult counterparts, and as a result also far more stress free.
Does the body really base its developmental phases in accordance with age in years? Or rather, after a series of life lessons and experiences.
Do we really die when we reach our eighties, or are we dying then because we’ve been expecting it our whole life?
Do we really have to complete certain tasks by certain dates or ages, or is this just, our complete lack of trust to follow the flow from our inner guidance?
Do we really need to be a slave to time, or is this just a choice that we’ve forgotten we have? We now have an identity created by time, and so we have an identity petrified of running out of time. The mind, we all believe is so real, is nothing without time. It cannot exist without time. To shed time is to shed the mind.
So are we to live carefree, at the expense of our time-based commitments and realities? No, but we MUST TRANSCEND them.
Time does not exist out there in the Universe, it exists within each of us. The human body has become a recorder of time, rather than an instrument of awareness. Our bodies have become the clock, and still we wonder why we age so quickly.
The Universe is happening ALL the time, in and around time, beyond it, not dependant on it in the slightest way. Time doesn’t exist in the mind of the Universe, just in the human mind. For what if we were to see ourselves as the Universe itself, as simply existing? We would see time very differently. For what we would see, is a human mind that chooses to measure itself, to confine itself, to limit itself. We would see a mind imprisoned by a reality that never existed in the first place.
Why be a slave to something that doesn’t exist? Why let it rule your life from birth to box? Life does NOT depend on time, just death.
For in truth, the only time that really matters is now!
Let NOW carry you effortlessly from one moment to the next. Let NOW be the only time you exist in, with no beginning and no end.
For that is the true you.
